The data

DoggieLoo is a map of dog relief spots, bins, water, dog parks, dog-friendly places and hangouts — most of it recorded on foot by the people who walk here. It is open data, and you are welcome to use it.

The feeds

Both are public and need no key. They are generated on request, so they are never stale.

Licence

Everything here is published under the Open Database Licence 1.0 (ODbL) — the same licence OpenStreetMap uses. In short: use it, change it, build on it, including commercially, as long as you credit it, and share any improved version of the data under the same licence.

Credit it as:

Contains data from DoggieLoo (doggieloo.theinvestorsnest.com) and OpenStreetMap contributors, under ODbL.

Pins marked "source": "osm" come from OpenStreetMap and are ODbL for that reason. The rest were recorded by walkers, and are offered under the same licence so the whole feed is one thing.

What is not in there

No people. No photograph is in the feeds, though a pin that has one carries a link to it, and those pictures are public once a reviewer has seen them — a photo nobody has reviewed is not. Recorded walks never leave the phone that made them and are in no feed, export or backup of this site. Contributors appear only as a short handle, or as nothing at all near their own home. Flagged "courtesy" stretches are deliberately absent too: they are neighbours' opinions about a street, and not ours to hand out in bulk.

Putting things back into OpenStreetMap

Things OpenStreetMap wants — bins, water fountains, hydrants, dog parks, and whether a café allows dogs — are best recorded there as well, where every other map can use them. That is done by hand, by someone who has seen the thing. Relief spots and hangouts have no OpenStreetMap tag and stay here.
